Well Summer is almost over (or did it ever begin I hear you ask!) and I hope I find you all relaxed and keeping well.
Apologies that it’s been almost 9 months since we last got in touch. However, during that time we have continued to be busy. Following our successful 2014 Christmas Carolling stint which raised sufficient funds to enable us to donate much needed money to the Mr X Appeal in addition to our nominated Charity of the Year Ty Olwen, our first engagement of the year in January was to play in a lovely wedding at St Catherines Church, Gorseinon.
Following on from that in February we took part in the Cawl â Cân evening at the Welfare Hall, where in addition to the attendance of the Senior Band, our Training Band gave their first public performance. It was very well received and it really is great to see the progress they have made. Ruth continues to lead them and if anyone is interested in learning or perhaps rekindling an interest feel free to call into the band room, which is in the grounds of Loughor Boating Club, on a Monday evening between 7:00 and 8:00.
Our other engagements during the year have included a Sunday afternoon at Singleton Park and another at Clyne Gardens. We followed those sessions with a fund raising concert with the Three Cliffs in Harmony choir at Pennard Community Hall. More recently we played in Parc William, Loughor as part of our 20th Birthday celebrations, Newton Court care home on 5th September and on Sunday 20th September we took part in a service at Parc Howard Llanelli.
Plans are now well underway for this year’s Annual concert, when this year, as well as the Training Band also taking part, we will be sharing the evening with Cr Curiad, a ladies choir from Llanelli. I’ve enclosed your complimentary tickets for the evening, but if you require any more please get in touch.
I’ve also enclosed a Patronage renewal form for 2016. If you feel you would like to continue your patronage please complete the form and get it back to me.
As regards further future dates we will soon be starting our Christmas Carolling season. We hope to have the opportunity to play at Tesco Fforestfach, Tesco Llanelli and at Asda Gorseinon (see our Website for the dates and times). As I have mentioned previously if you are out and about and we are playing please feel free to stop and have a chat. Also our first engagement of 2016 is already in diaries with 19th February pencilled in for the annual Cawl â Cân evening.
Well I think that’s all our news covered, but if you have any comments or have anything specific you would like included in future Newsletters please let us know. As always, if you think the band can help you or any organisation you are involved with, please feel free to get in touch and we will do our very best to accommodate.
In the meantime we would like to wish you all the very best for the future and thank you all again for your continued support. It remains, as always, greatly appreciated.
